BUCKY 04-19-2004 10:20 AM

Well im at the Honda dealer trying to buy another 4whealer when I get a phone call from Diane. All that she said was that the talon went boom and she thinks it exploded. So I left the dealer and headed for 94.

Well I pulled up and all I could see was 4.5 quarts of oil on the groung under the car. So I towed it home and now I need to tear it apart.

P.S. Now looking for 2.4 6 bolt block.

john 04-19-2004 10:23 AM

That sucks. I think santa has a block laying around. Also check with Steve (goatblower) or QPR.

Jana 04-19-2004 10:35 AM

That sucks bucky!! :(

TalonFiero 04-19-2004 10:35 AM

A1-Auto has a 2.4 out of a Sonata but it is $400. Not the cheapest but you could pick it up today and it is local.

Sorry to hear about the motor.

Matt D. 04-19-2004 11:46 AM

That sucks...

It makes me wonder how long before Bucky blames the woman for beating on the car while he's not around. ;)

Raptor 04-19-2004 12:51 PM

That sucks dude, can I have your old shortblock :bounce: I need something to hold up the back of the blast cabinet.

I know you will find another cheap 2.4 quick just like the last one, hopefully for the same price as well.

DSMGirl 04-19-2004 01:19 PM

Man that sucks! I hope that everything works out for you.

JET 04-19-2004 01:33 PM

You and Joe need to get together and see who can break more shit in the shortest amount of time! BTW, Joe is tranny hunting right now :P

Blade 04-19-2004 07:46 PM

Bummer man, sorry to hear about that.

BUCKY 04-19-2004 08:12 PM

Well I didn't have time to tear anything apart yet but I did jack it up and take a look.

There it a 2 inch hole in the oil pan and I can feel something up in there. Im thinking its a broken balance shaft that I can feel but im not sure.

carltalon 04-19-2004 09:11 PM

It's bad. I had my whole finger inside the oil pan' and I agree it feels like a balance shaft. The motor won't turn over at all. So who won the pool on how long the motor would last I think my guess was a month.

Nash 04-19-2004 09:13 PM

With the way you drive, Bucky, I'm suprised the thing lasted this long.

Hey man i havn't been driving it for over a week. I think that diane has been beating the shit out of it. She hasn't admitted it yet but I bet it was at 7 grand when it blew.

Blade 04-19-2004 10:13 PM

Must you shift the blame on the woman because she was driving it at the time?

JasonR 04-19-2004 10:16 PM

WELL, I know you mentioned looking for 2.4L now. If you are interested and want faster turn around time. I have a 7 bolt 2.0L 1995 bored out with correct Ross racing pistons and eagle rods with polished crank. New aftermarket parts, just need bearings and to be assembled by engine builder. I run a 6 bolt now with bigger turbo, but I planned on using this engine with a 20g. Let me know if interested. Hope things start turning around for ya. Sounds like balance shaft failure to me.
