help which turbo to go with???

Okay DSMERS, I need help on which turbo to go with. First off my car is an Eclipse GST spyder and I have the basic mods for it. MHI-16g turbo, 3" exhaust from turbo back, K&N filter with dejon pipe, DSMLink, 650cc injectors, ACT 2100 clutch, walbro 255 pump, greddy Type-s BOV and greddy lower and upper intercooler pipe with greddy 24V FMIC. That's all the set up that I had so far. Now that my MHI-16g turbo is going out of order, I want to go with something bigger. But the thing is, my motor is not built. So I'm wondering if It can spool a bigger turbo or not?? and which turbo to go with?? The FP 18g 6sl2 or the FP green turbo?? Not looking to get a lot of HP max hp would be 300 to 350. And want a good highway turbo for top end if you get what I mean LOL... Sorry DSMERS as you can see I'm still kind of a newbie LOL so please help me in any way you can dsmers thanks..

Re: help which turbo to go with???

scm61

edit:
1000cc or high injectors
E85

i forgot it was fwd. not sure how much burning out you're going to do on the highway.

Re: help which turbo to go with???

FP 68HTA and bigger injectors to run E85 and you'll have an easy 350whp. Even another MHI 16g will easily get you over 300whp on E85. Cams are good too.

You'll be fine on stock internals to over 400whp, so don't worry about that.

scm61 is way overkill if youre just looking to make 350hp max, unless you're sticking to pump.

Re: help which turbo to go with???

A 50 trim (5031) might be a happy medium. It's good a decent amount of lag to help with fwd, will make 350whp easy, and will flow well up top.

Re: help which turbo to go with???

1000cc+ injectors, rewire that Walboro, and either an FP 68HTA, or an e316g with e85 and you'll make well over 300whp.

Re: help which turbo to go with???

If you arent looking for a TON of HP, but want a very fun car, get an Evo3 16G (a real one) or an FP 68HTA (A 16G with a fancy billet compressor wheel), bigger injectors, and e85 and you will have one fun car!!! PS you might need something for tuning IE DSMLink and I'd bring it to Shane at DBPerformance for tuning.

yeah I was thinking about the 50 trim too but at that price i can get the FP green.. LOL
and I don't want to much lag cuz I don't want to lose to some stupid turbo honda hatch back lol not hating on Honda's lol

Re: help which turbo to go with???

If you did E85 and some bigger injectors like 1000cc, an Evo 3 16G would do pretty good for you. If you are trying to do it on pump gas, then it will be a lot harder. A 16G on E85 is going to make more power than most big turbo setups on pump gas, unless you have some crazy supporting mods and a really good setup. The FP Green, FP HTA68, a 20G, etc are all good options with good spoolup.

Are you stock cams? Stock intake manifold? A stock 2G motor/head will make good power, but the intake manifold and cams are a bit lacking.

Re: help which turbo to go with???

I also vote Evo 3 16g or 68HTA. Those are about the best turbos for your goal and probably the best price also. Some 1000cc ish injectors and corn, and you will have one fun ass car. If you want to stick to pump gas, you may want a bigger turbo though.

Also, 1g or 2g? Kevin brought up a good point that you are going to want some sort of tuning program. If you have a 1g, then I vote that you have Shane (ecoli) burn you a custom eprom chip while on the dyno. Thats what I had with my old 16g setup and will be using with my new setup as well. They work great, and the temptation to mess with settings, change stuff, etc. is out of the equation which is good for some people that like to tinker, it takes out the possibility of fucking it up if you're not sure what you're doing. Not sure if he can do those with 2g's though.

Good luck!

LOL thanks bro. Can you tell me more about the stock cams and stock intake manifold?? in to why its lacking so much besides it being stock, Or is it just because it's stock LOL and doesn't have that much potential..LOL

yeah that's what I thought too about the FP green that it's a 50 trim but how come it doesn't have that much turbo lag as the 50 trim??

Re: help which turbo to go with???

one or 2 more thing DSMERS. Lets say I was to go with the FP green. Would my 650cc injectors be okay or would I need bigger injectors? and I'm not planing on going E85 yet. Just pump gas. second thing is, Which would you dsmers prefer wastegate 02 dump or recirculation 02 housing?? let me know.. I know that the 02 dump is going to be very loud but from hearing people talk about the dump it help stop boost creep or something like that am i right please help on these 2 question too thanks and the turbo part LOL.. Like I said still kind of new at this stuff and Learning from it too LOL...

I personally hate external dumping O2 housings, but if you want to deal with that sound then more power to you. Get yourself a nice cast or tubular recirculating one and you'll be just fine, and the cops and neighbors won't hate you so much.

yeah I myself hate it too. Just because it's too loud and it sounds like the car is broken or about to break.. LOL thanks
