UnlockMonster.com: Local Dude that can fix your smartphone!

I've had my iphone 3GS for over a year and the battery is just mush. Apple wants like $85 to replace the battery. I looked online how to do it (I am normally the kind of guy that would just take it apart and do it myself) but the tools and technique looked a little outside my realm of isht I want to deal with. About the same time, I found this guy Casey that will install a new battery for only $40! With some beer, I convinced him to come to me and it took all of 15 minutes, including BS'ing about cars (yes he's a car guy!). He's based out of Minneapolis, idk if he has a shop or just mostly travels but one thing is for sure: HE DOES GOOD WORK!

Just wanted to share his contact info here, if you have a smashed or urinal-dunked iPhone (ANDREW!), he can fix it! New batteries, parts, etc etc.

*edit* just talked to him, he's gonna sign up here. I'll have him check this thread. :)

Awesome, does the new battery last longer or is it some kind of extended life battery? I hate having to charge this pile all the time.

LOL yes, that is the idea. Batteries wear out. This is just a replacement, I wouldn't expect it to last longer than the battery on a new phone; its not bigger or anything and it doesn't have any magical properties imbued upon it :) It should however last way way longer than the one that was in there.

Well I guess you will have to let us know since there are no specs listed about this magical battery.

I've only had my phone for 18 months

Magical battery? Did scheides not just say it was a normal replacement? It lasts longer because its no longer messed up.

^yes Magical Battery, capital M and capital B.

It was a joke, scheides messaged me earlier about it. From what I'm understanding scheides seems to be experiencing or was experiencing an abnormally short battery life from his phone but this new one should prove different.

I'm just wondering if I am due for a new battery as we have not heard any specs provided. With my phone pushing email hourly, and average text usage I'm at 60% right now. Seems kind of high usually this time of day I'm at 40-50%, if this new battery would keep me in the 50s by the time I get home I'd be sold.

Hopefully casey will post up soon and give us some solid info.

Aaron, again, no idea on the specs, it is a stock replacement battery. It should last just as long as when the phone was new. I got mine right when the 3GS came out: June 2009 so ya about 18 months ago and the battery couldn't hold shit for charge. I already noticed the difference, I've used 15% battery life over the last 10 hours instead of like 50%. Call him up and make an appointment, this is what you want so you can love your phone again ;)

@scheides - Hey bro! hope the battery is working great. Thanks for turning me on to the mitsustyle forum. Looks like there is a nice community here!

@turbotalon1g - Sorry no "magical battery", there are batteries that are rated to last longer 1200 mAh + at 3.7 volts but I find that OEM batteries are usually the best. Depending on your model, I can get you the correct OEM battery for your device. Scheides needed a 616-0431.

@98GSX - No problem with the 3G screen. Im running a special on 3g glass right now. I can repair your Glass and LCD for 75 If you want to bring it into my office in NE MPLS. Parts always instock.

Hit me up, Im happy to help you out!

Sweet, thanks for the info.

Can you PM me a price or let me know what info you need. I got my phone about the same time as scheides but I probably don't use it as much as scheides.

Can you replace batteries in ipod touch's as well? My buddy says his battery is about done and doesn't want to take it to an apple store if possible because he doesn't want to spend a ton.

Why wouldnt you just contact him via his website (its in the title of this thread)? Seems like the logical choice.

My buddies fiancee needs a 3G battery replacement, Mitsustyle price? I've referred a lot of people at work to this site as well.
