Felpro Headgasket Blocks Coolant Port On 2G Head
 

My car started pushing coolant the other day so I pulled the head today to see whats up and as suspected, BHG. I was trying to figure out why it blew because my head has been checked and its flat and it never had head gasket problems before. I noticed right where it was leaking there is a coolant port that Felpro blocked off. I did some research and found that people have noticed it before but I could only find references to 1g cars and although there is a port on the block for coolant to flow into the head 1g heads don't have the port opened up. Well I happen to have a 2g head on my car and it just so happens 2g heads have that port on the head also. I couldn't find a refence to this problem on 2g cars or heads so I figured I'd post some pics because I believe that this oversight on Felpro's part contributed to my BHG.

Is the price still at $2000 for the car? haha You should take the $700 you were offered.

That port being blocked had nothing to do with you "pushing" coolant. I would check to see if the decks are square. Also never buy aftermarket organic gaskets, always use mitsu gaskets.

Get an oem mitsu HG and call it good. Just get a 2g one and no worries.

Yeah but if I get one that's specifically for a 2g from Mitsubishi I imagine all the head bolt holes will be too small then because its a 6 bolt block and my head has been drilled out for the bigger studs

Yeah I see alot of people blow these felpro ones left and right but I have mine still under warranty so replacements are free and I can do the head gasket in a few hours, if I had the choice it would have l19s and a permatorque mls

Actually so far I've turned down $1800, a 94 GSXR1100, and a 99 Accord EX V6, and a 2001 Monte Carlo SS so anyone who says people won't buy it is dumb and I'm not in a big hurry to sell. Go cry to someone else if you are one of the people that offered me scrap value and got shot down.

If you are that worried about the passage (which more than likely has nothing to do with it) do you own a drill? The coolant is at like 14psi, it doesn't take much to seal that.
