WTF is this noise?
 

For a while now I've had this vibrating/rattle type noise coming from my car. I finally narrowed down the conditions under which it happens. What are your thoughts on what it is?

It's only happening from about 2.3k-3k RPMs. It only happens a lower speeds. It's typically 1-3rd gear that this happens. It does not happen when the car in is neutral and I rev the engine to that same RPM range. And generally is more prevalent when the car has first started.

Plastic rattle/buzz noise? I went through my interior with Presto felt and that helped cure a lot of the rattles. The little hydraulic arm on the glovebox is notorious for rattling.

No, I've done that too. Amazing what $5 spent at JoAnne Fabrics will do to a $35,000 car. Pretty sure it's from the underside of the vehicle.

You work at a dealership, your car is under warranty, have them throw it up on a lift.

Boost solenoid or some other solenoid buzzing? Exhaust or o2 sensor hitting underside of car?

you could do what everyone else does on this forum, get your hands dirty and look under your car for something that rattles or moves enough to be hitting something else. Why not inspect before asking questions

It's not hard to lift it up and start shaking shit around. Your car came equipped with a factory jack lift it up and start looking.

Your co-workers probably know it's not stock. You work there just sneak it in and have a tech check it out. If not bring it to map and pay a few hundred bucks to start this crap shoot.

Just turn the radio up till you dont hear noise. Problem solved

Flamidation valve vibrating against the carrier bearing more than likely.

The flamidation valve is in the block on the X, silly. Didn't you see the pic of Shawn torquing it on Scheides' motor before the head went on?

Thats a very good possibility that it could be the FV... But he probably should put the car back to stock and take it in... The FV is probably covered under warranty wouldnt you think?

Thats a pretty expensive part. If you can man, throw it back together and get it in soon before it takes out your motor!

Hmm they changed the location of it? Lemme guess, its made of plastic now too? Probably why it rattles.

Might want to do that and take it in before you are stranded on the side of the road with it.

The FV is very serious if its loose. Talk to your tech about it, he will know! If not, he probably doesnt know what he is doing and shouldnt be working on your car. A master tech should know though!

Good thing you caught it before something bad happened!
