this looks to good to be true, has it been proven?

for big turbos this sounds like it would be nice, im not familiar with intakes at all. are there better options , that still give good low end ?

but you know what they say "just one more moving part to break" (has anyone ran this setup?)

just looking for options on the rebuild.

thats pretty sweet, dsms forever evolving!!

I was going to run one of those years ago on my 2G but opted out. End of the day once you are making decent power, this is a restriction and it'd have to go bye-bye anyways :)

I've always been curious about these. They seem to be a little too expensive as everyone wants gold for them. I can understand why though. It would probably be decent on a 16g or equivalent car.

They work well.

Here's a dyno of a 16g gas setup from 2007:

Blue line is the Cyclone, red is a 1G Stock manifold.

The record for max power on a Cyclone was 621 HP on a DJ using a laggy GT-35:

I suspect like scheides said, it would be a restriction on high-flow setups, but I have absolute data from back-to-back runs with the same setup.

so for a 2.3 hx40 build , wanting 500ish do you think it would be a benefit or a restriction?

ive read that it out flows a 1g , but not by much.

seeing how my engine is already a 2.3 I figured the cyclone would give even more grunt in the low end before boost steps in.

Re: this looks to good to be true, has it been proven?

Im running a cyclone intake on my 2.3 with an actuator just like in the video. Automatic with stock cams and a bastard 20g at 32-35 psi. It is a nut case out of the hole.

Im also going to further the actuator setup by adding a boost control solenoid and controlling it with my evo 8 ecu so that it only opens the butterflys at 4000 rpm.

With an HX-40 I would use a SMIM over the Cyclone because the turbo can supply sufficient airflow that it makes sense to make the engine more efficient in the upper RPM range.

I agree, it would not be a good choice for comparing it to a smim for 1/4 mile drag racing and overall power. But for a fun street car, and maybe the 1/8th mile, I like it!

FYI: It was a pain to clear the A/C compressor, and it was a pain relocating the coil pack and setting up the wastegate actuator.

You can kind of see the wastegate actuator under the spark plug wires.

Damn, Chad... that looks awesome!

Are you going to be at the spring dyno with it?

I think a friendly peak TQ contest would be in order :)

Can I join friendly peak torque battle? :) Or is it for 1g's only?

I thoughts yours wasn't too far off mine at the last dyno day? You just started spewing fluid and didn't get to crank it up.

Im currently upgrading my 20g to a billet 20g extended tip, then replacing my 7cm housing with a fp 8cm housing. Then some other minor things I hope to get done by this spring, and make it to the dyno day.

Which billet wheel did you go with? The thread on Tooners made me want to poke my eyes out...

was it hard to set everything up and make it work together ? I have no ac etc.( I mean tune wise )

1g throttle body bolt right up ?

dis the intake make a well worth it difference?
