2g head casting flaw fixable?
 

Picked this up the other night. Started looking at it yesterday, checks out straight as an arrow, flat to .002" but cylinders #1 and #4 have some casting flaws on the outer edges of the dome.

I assume the machine shop can smooth these out, but I figured I'd see what a few smart people on here would think before I am able to bring it in.

Doesn't look too shabby to me, I bet you could clean that up with emery cloth.

Has it been decked ever?

Looks more like detonation to me. Either way, that's easy to clean up, I smoothed all of mine before I had it decked.

Never been decked. Still 5.200"

I don't think it's detonation, as it is in the same spot in cyl 1 & 4 and nothing in 2 & 3. But I'm no expert on this.

Why refer to it as Tooners if thats where you get a bunch of your advice? It's no-where near bad as it used to be thank god.

I think that's actually the first thread I've ever started there? Anyways, reading through his posts, he just seems like one of the more knowledgable guys there (and here, he has an account if I remember right) as far as machining goes. I don't have access to link forums and NABR is dead, otherwise I would ask there as well.

Yeah, that guy does seem to have a decent amount of knowledge on machining and general engine stuff. I like his posts.
