Re: TT cummins
They must be running some crazy high boost levels.

Re: TT cummins
sweet staged setup!
|
Re: TT cummins
breaking the setup in with 60psi, then going to go for 85psi as far as i've heard.

Re: TT cummins
That is cool. I should try that on my car, blast the head threw the hood, it would be sweet.

Re: TT cummins
That would be considered a Sequential turbo setup correct? What are the sizes of those bad boys?

Re: TT cummins

Re: TT cummins
That's gonna be one high pitched ride. It better be pretty darn quick, too...

Re: TT cummins
Is that the Cummins which comes in the '03+ Dodges?
|
Re: TT cummins
I know a guy with one, 900 ft lbs of torque. It's pretty damn fast!

Re: TT cummins
I've always wondered that they have their boost set at right out of the factory. I asked on guy once and he had no clue, haha. Those things take a S*** load of oil too....I've seen people pay about $115 for an oil change (I work a Valvoline, haha). And the stock intercooler on those things are also HUGE!

I heard a ford tech talking about someone who wanted to get warranty work done after he had installed a chip and intake on his brand new powerstroke. He said that the ECU had logged 55 pounds of boost. That is with a chip and intake, so imagine what they can do with new injectors and other mods. |
Re: TT cummins
Yeah it is nutty the amount of boost they can run just by chipping them. All those little bolt ons and you can easily gain 100-200 ft-lbs. Gotta love turbos on diesels.

Re: TT cummins
factory Cummins in dodge will run anywhere from 21psi to 24psi, for 2nd gen ones like what i have. Stock they can handle about 60psi without having to modify anything engine wise other than adding fuel.
I can get a set of injectors that are a bit bigger and they would gain me 75hp and 120tq without having to adjust anything, however the trany is so un-efficient that if i upgraded trany i would get another 150whp and 250tq . So basicly if i spent 3600 on trany, and 350 on injectors i'm looking at about 225whp and 370tq extra, which would make it to be about 380whp and 750tq... and i'd get better fuel economy too! -E |
Re: TT cummins
do it! what's the stock turbo setup like on those? How much will the stock turbo flow?
|
Re: TT cummins
the turbo on my truck will flow about 33psi...
from 21 currently, but i don't want to make any changes, i want to have at least one drivable vehicle and my other is a DSM... I have put 50k miles on this thing already without any major issues. One excuse only to upgrade a fuel pump, thats it. so i have a 150gph fuel pump in there now. -E |
