melting headlight plugs
 

OK, i'm sick and tired of these stupid headlight plugs, i changed 2 already and they keep melting.

Its probably lightbulbs that i'm using but the plastic on them isn't melting only the plug on the wiring harness side.

has anyone else had an issue with that or know a different way of doing it?

What you using for bulbs are how much power are they pulling? Perhaps the wire isn't a high enough gauge.

This is a common problem with cheap ebay bulbs. If you pay the money for Silverstars or other quality brand headlights you won't have a problem. I know of 3 cars that it has happened to, and all had bought cheap ebay "high intensity" or "blue look" bulbs.

Sylvania silverstars are sold at Wal-Mart, Autozone, and other auto places. At least the more common bulbs. Finding them for my Audi was a pain, and they are a little pricey.

Silverstars are amazing bulbs as far as non-HID headlights are concerned, well worth the price IMO (and I paid $25/bulb, they are under $20 now). They look very nice plus give more light than any bulb available here in the US (a European Phillips bulb and the European version of Siverstars provide slightly more light than the US-spec Silverstar b/c the US-spec has a very light coating to give them an HID-like appearance).

+1 to Silverstars, I will be using them in the Galant once I get my foglight situation figured out.

Actually that is what i have, Silverstars :(

i guess i'lljust go back to the crappy ones...

Have you checked the voltage in your car Enes? Make sure the voltage isn't higher than normal, your voltage regulator could be going out on the alternator.

i do ocasionally see 14.2 14.5 .. mostly around 13.7 13.8

bad connection to the bulb? crud or somthin on either the plug or bulb, if the plug is loose on the bulb, it could also cause arcing, this happened on my bike once... course if it was arcing you would notice the dimmness of the bulb... but it wouldn't have to arc long to melt a plug
