For those who don't know the guy who owned my car before me turned from an AT to MT. The swap was done flawlessly but I have noticed two things. My reverse lights don't work and, less importantly, my cruise control doesn't work. I don't care about the cruise but the reverse lights would sure come in handy. Now I see the plug on the tranny where the light harness would plug in, but see no harness(which I expected beacause of the swap).
First off, where would I find the reverse light wires from an AT. And secondly, where would I find a plug to plug it into a MT. Anyone done this before? Thanks in advance. P.S. If anyone is concerned I found a great price at the Ramada Inn in Sandusky for the weekend of the SO. 60 a night for duble occupancy, can't argue with that. And apparently it is only 12 miles away. Yeah I am cheap, or poor, don't know yet. |
dang man i dunno. i just know that there's the sensor kinda by the fender well and there is a harness that goes to it. I don't have a 1g automatic to look at so i can't compare. Ur sure that there is no harness anywhere like layin around? if worse come to worse, u could prolly just run you own wiring, my guess would be that once u put the car in reverse, that sensor puts out a 12V signal to the reverse lights which turn em on, so i bet you could just run your own wiring back there and that would work.

It might almost be easier to get the plug for the manual tranny and wire up a relay to the back up light directly. Just test it to find out if it closes or opens a loop when engaged. I am willing to bet the back up light switch was at the shifter on the automatic car and not in the engine bay at all.

Anyone have a good idea on where to get a plug/harness for the tranny? |
