They kinda work. On a lot of cars it won't be that noticable. I would run them on some cars, especially if the car is running alcohol like E85 where the fuel also cools the intake temps a lot. I have datalogged a few AEM cars with them and intake air temp sensors in the upper intercooler pipe. The intake air temp change from the start of a dyno pull to the end is much higher than you would see on a car with a good intercooler. So you lose a little power and have to run less boost/ignition timing.
