A similar thing happened when my uncles van was broken into. They've had several break ins recently and lost some very expensive stuff. I always thought the neighbors were a little odd, but the moment the guy heard noise by the cars he was out there with his shot gun. The thieves got away, but the effort gave me a new respect for the man.
