The MAP sensor operates in an entirely different way from a MAF. You runa vacuum hose to it. It references the pressure and sends that info to your ecu. It's used in conjunction with an air temp sensor. Those two readings are compared to a predetermined table to determine how much air is entering the engine. it does not actually measure the air itself.

You need a different setup to run a map sensor. DSM ecu's are equipped to run a MAF, not a MAP setup.

I run DSMAP which is a speed density setup. Other (read high dollar) setups do the same thing. Here is a not so clear picture of mine.
