That sounds like it will work (tax side). I was sceptical when you first brought it up as a tax break is not always the case. I know of a couple who got divorced as it would be cheaper for tax purposes ("marriage tax"). It is something that people will tell you ("you will get a tax break by getting married") but is not always true. My ex-fiance's parents tried using that on me but I knew enough to tell them that it is not the case.
Just don't let her get carried away! Small add ons can lead to an expensive wedding. I would make a budget first if you haven't already.
