I am sure you can put the transfer case next to the transmission. But as a Front Wheel Drive transmission is not intended to power anything but the front wheels, it lacks an output shaft and mounting hardware for a transfer case. Setting them next to each other is an option, but I doubt that is your original goal.

No they are not the same. One transmission is designed to power two axles (FWD). The other transmission is a FWD based transmission that also splits the power and sends it to an output shaft. From the output shaft it goes to the transfer case, sends it to the rear differential, and out to the rear axles. This is why they look similar as they are based on the same design, but a fwd transmission is essentially missing 1/3 the stuff an AWD transmission has in it.

just looking for an eazy way to get this 2g running and on the road ...

the cheapest awd 2g trans is $700 and i dont want to pay that for one if i dont need to ....
A 1g DSM has 1 transmission mount on the vehicle. A 2g dsm has 3 transmission mounts. You are correct that they are chassis dependant.

Your best bet is to find another awd transmission cheaper. You could also put in a fwd transmission with a different axle configuration, but why even bother buying an awd chassis?
