Everyone says how they will be a hero when the time comes but in reality, not that many step up or pull over. No one else pulled over when my mom was in the ditch because they weren't looking for that type of situation. She was pretty well hidden in a wide median full of water. She was there over an hour before the cop found her. Make light of it if you wish, but if he had not spotted her, she would not be here. Being in a situation and reacting to it doesn't necesarrily make you any different than anyone else, choosing to be in a position where you have to be in the line of fire, deal with some very sad accident scenes with horrible sites like dead children etc, for low pay and very little respect, that is noble. You can have whatever opinion about it you like, but unless you are providing some service to humanity that is equal with less expectation for reward what is that opinion worth?

With the ticket thing, if you think you would respond equally to all the drivers on the road regardless of what they drive, drive down the highway and watch for a civic with a big wing, evaluate what goes through your head and tell me you don't think any differently of anyone else on the road. A few biased thoughts will probably sneak into your head, now consider that your job is to make people obey the law, would you think there could be more to the story if you saw that same car in an area where others have been racing, guns have been fired, people hit with cars and a lot of general public disregard has occured. Wouldn't you be more apt to want to make a point to them or at least check further into the situation?
