My wife and I do the same, except its a Visa. The reason we do it is to get all the rewards and cash-back stuff. It seems like since we moved down here we've been getting $100+/month cash-back with all her travel for work and the purchases for the house. Using credit is great as long as you're responsible with it and don't carry a balance.
