Yeah definately sounds like something interesting to follow. I'm sure you'll have to pay for the R&D effort that went into them though...
Just some other random info as I ended up purchasing a BW turbo for my new project. Here's a little info on how I chose mine. I'm 98% sure this is all accurate, but if someone finds something I wrote is wrong, please feel free to correct it
Some off the shelf ones I was considering were:
S300SX 83-75
Compressor: 60mm inducer, 83mm exducer, has ETT, rated at 68lb/min
Turbine: 75mm inducer, 68mm exducer (old style)
S300SX 88-75
Compressor: 62.99mm inducer, 88mm exducer, has ETT, rated at 75lb/min
Turbine: 75mm inducer, 68mm exducer (new style)
S300SX 91-79
Compressor: 66mm inducer, 91.4mm exducer, has ETT, rated at 82lb/min
Turbine: 80mm inducer, 73mm exducer
You'll see how I noted NEW and OLD style. The turbine wheels on each of these turbos have the same specs, but are actually different. Here's a little pic showing the difference. The one on the 88-75 is pretty much regarded as the better of the two. In fact some are saying for this sized turbo, it's the best designed turbine wheel on the market today.
I was looking for decent top end, while still retaining as best of spool as possible, so I was stuck on those two. Then I found out that Full Race made a custom spec one that pretty much filled that gap for people like myself. They basically took the 88-75 (better exh wheel) but put a different compressor wheel on it, and called it the 84-75.
S300SX 84-75
Compressor: 61.4mm inducer, 84mm exducer, has ETT, rated at 72lb/min
Turbine: 75mm inducer, 68mm exducer (new style)
That's it, just figured I'd share some info for anyone else interested in these, and to hopefully answer some questions to those who've asked me for more info on the turbo I chose.
Also a nice dyno comparison that was done, between the 83 and 88 turbo, using the 1.0 and .91 exhaust housings. You can see why I opted for the .91
