Time to vent a little further.
While talking to Marco about the build on my engine the first and second one, I was told there would not be any need to install ARP studs and align hone the block. Marco told me they were not experiencing any problems with the stock bolts. Marco, "They will hold fine, with no problems. We run our race car up to 9500 rpm under high boost with no problems". So I'm browsing the "new and improved" Magnus website and see this;
"Main studs and align honing – Although Factory Main bolts have proven to work at over 600hp there is evidence on motors which we have disassembled of factory main caps walking. Optional for those who want additional strength we offer this as an option."
What a suprise. I pay $4200 for the Magnus Stage 4 2.4L long rod short block. This is supposed to be their "Signature" engine that is the best available. And now I have my doubts about it holding up under the 30-35+ psi I plan to put to it. I'll let you know if I have to sweep the crank shaft off the race track.
$4200 gets you a 2.4L block & crank, Marco-Ross pistons, Marco-Pauter longer rods, Marco decking of the block, Marco boring the block, Marco balancing to less than 1 gram, supposedly lightened by 500 grams, Marco assembly with new bearings! That's it. Oh I forgot the Marco black paint!!
Yeah, I think I got fucked hard on this one.
