Are you tapping for an EGT probe? If so, it is very easy, all you need is a regular drill, some tapping oil, a HSS drill bit, and a tap. Let me know if you need the correct sizes too.

I bet he is tapping an exhaust manifold bolt that snapped off in the head.
It's best to remove the manifold and radiator. I bought a right handed drill bit and was able to remove it with a normal drill.

Re: I live in west blomington, pleez help me tap my exst header
I was drunk when I posted this last night but I am upgrading to 2 10mm exhaust mani studs on the ends of the mani. I have all 8mm studs right now, none are broken. I already have everything off, the exhaust/turbo/manifold so I figue I might as well do it considering I'm getting a 2g mani and I already have the studs. I just need to find a 90degree angle drill, maybe rent one or something and be really carefull when I drill.

Or just use a shitty drill bit cut short...
And since there is a big pilot hole there already, the drill bit will pretty much align itself. Just get it relatively straight when u start, and you'll be fine.
JUST DO IT!

Why are you even "upgrading"?
Its not like the 10mm bolts are gonna hold that much better. I dont think it would be worth it. You can just use the 8mm studs on a 2g mani. Thats what Im running.

Re: I live in west blomington, pleez help me tap my exst header
I know I could stick with the 8mm but I already have it off and I've got the the 10mm kit. 10mm studs equal less stress on the head, and I believe that it can warp.

Just an update, I said forget it. It was to risky and 8mm studs will probably work just as good. I probably won't ever have enough power to break them anyways.

Re: I live in west blomington, pleez help me tap my exst header
When I had the head off my old Eclipse (6+ years ago) I had all the holes machined out to 10mm. I did the 2g manifold at the same time. That thing was fricken rock solid. I could have hung a semi turbo off that manifold. I've seen the 8mm bolts break with age only, not even making tons of power.

Good to hear, I'm getting new steel studs so I should be fine then.
