i had the car for about 8 months when a new timing belt i had just put on fell apart. i took the origional engine out of the car and then lost intrest in rebuilding it. i got the 92 tsi im driving now from that guy and i traded him the 90. he paid about $900 for it. the car did not have a 92 engine in it when i had it so i cant say much about the engine. the engine i did give him did have a new life time warranty alternator with all new belts but he migh have not put them on the new engine. you will have to check. the tranny was great on that car. would grind a little when cold but very smooth when it warmed up. he is selling the car because that is what he does. he buys messed up dsm's, fixes them and sell them. he did a head, timing belt, and all that stuff in the car i have now. i havent had any problems with it.
good:
denso 190 fuelpump with rewire
both front axles are a year old
i put in a new master clutch cyl.
and a slave cyl. if he used it.
$90 set of ceramic front brake pads. less than 5k miles
BAD:
the only bad thing i can think of is the rear brakes. they are totally fucked. he may have fixed them but i really doubt it. if the rear rotors still have rust on the then they are not fixed. both rear calipers are frozen and rust welded to the car. i tried breaker bars, torches, big ass hammers, and air guns but nothing will get them off. the car still stops fine but i wouldnt try any quick stops from 100mph.
like i said you will have to check with him to see what origional parts he used. he had a garage full of dsm parts so he may have just used some of those.
