catch cans?

What's the CORRECT way to run an oil catch can? there are 2 spots from the VC to go to the can-1 with a pcv. Does one just run both lines to the catch can? I hear you need a vaccuum source for it to work properly-is this true? any help is appreciated..thanks!

Re: catch cans?

Ideally you'd have 2 cans. One between the valve cover and PCV/intake manifold and one between the vc breather and intake pipe. I'm going to modify that a bit and run both my PCV and breather into one can and then route it to my intake pipe to use as the vacuum source.

Re: catch cans?

Make a catch can out of a gatorade bottle and a tiny breather filter from the autoparts store. They work wonders.

Re: catch cans?

I'd really like for someone to take this serious and answer the OP's question. I'm interested in getting a proper catch can set-up as well.

If you could supply the good info, thanks to Kracka for some already, it would be appreciated! Possibly a link to the product if it's not too much of a hassle either!

Thanks!!

Re: catch cans?

Another thing to remember, you never want boost to enter the can and ideally you'll have a vacuum source attached to the can to help the crankcase breath and to clear gasses (the intake pipe works very well for this as does the intake manifold).

Re: catch cans?

Anyone have photos of their setup as I am looking to properly hook up a setup like this. Can you Y the 2 off the valve cover into 1 into a catch can and have one vacuum line running from the intake sucking from both of these all the time or is that too much?

Re: catch cans?

Is there any good way to do it with only 1 can? Do you think that putting a small filter on the one and only hooking up a catch can to the other one and then routing it to the intake before the turbo will be enough?
