compressor surge
1996 eagle talon tsi, evo 3 big16, 1g blowoff valve, fmic, external dump, 3 inch exhaust, apexi neo, greddy boost controller, greddy turbo timer, walbro 255lph. I recieved this car from someone and when ever you turn the boost over 13 psi it bucks and coughs and spits... do you think that i need bigger injectors i dont know what is in there now. let me know what you think .

Re: compressor surge
Why does your info under drives say "Talon TSI evo 3 25psi if you cant boost over 13?
Have you checked for boost leaks? 13 psi "shouldnt" be hitting fuel cut. i would check for leaks. Also check your settings on the neo, and what are you using for logging? Suggest getting a logger.

Re: compressor surge
Apexi Neo doesn't work right on DSMs or any Karmen cars. It could still use 550cc injs, a boost leak test and a tune though. It might need new spark plugs and/or have a boost leak. But there is a known problem with the Neo on DSMs, Evos, 3000GTs, etc and Apexi has been trying to fix it.

Re: compressor surge
25-28psi on pump gas spitting and coughing...might want to start shopping for a new engine LOL
Take the above advice by doing a boost leak test then replace that Neo with an older version S-AFC and get yourself a professional tune.

^^There's your boost leak test, Ryan^^
What you've got sounds like fuel cut to me, though... So I'd run it at 13 until you can get an AFC that'll work, or preferably, DSM Link.

Re: compressor surge
You also might wanna figure out which injectors are in the car now before you go buying new ones.

Re: compressor surge
Boost leaks, bad or no tuning. You NEED a wideband to tune and some way to see knock. Good luck.

Re: compressor surge
Actually, I was talking to a longtime DSM'er today, and he stated that his GF has a Neo on her 2G, and it works fine. He said it was more than likely a wiring issue than an actual issue with the device itself.
Verify that you clipped the right wires and put them in the correct places.

Re: compressor surge
It depends on the serial number of the Neo. Initially there was a linearity flaw surrounding the airflow corrections. Things become very erratic with the Neo's output and can cause major damage. If the last four digits of your serial number are below 13800 and there is no Karmen compatibility sticker on the back of the unit the unit contains the programming bug.
If you have one of the problematic units, you should remove the Neo and reconnect the MAS wire at pinout #90. Keep in mind, that if you are running larger injectors, you'll need to swap back to stock until you get the Neo fixed. Let me know if you need a copy of the form you have to send back with the Neo.

np, man.
Correct me if I've got any bits of this wrong, but here's what I got from the short conversation we had when I picked up the headlights... You had all of the listed goodies on the burgundy talon, which was then totaled, so you swapped them over to the green one, and you're now having problems. Correct?
So wouldn't that point more toward a wiring issue than a programming or version issue?

Re: compressor surge
It doesn't matter if it's a manual or auto when dealing with a 2g, only with a 1g. The 1g automatics ran 390cc injectors as opposed to 450's so they aren't interchangable.
