windows 7

So who has upgraded.
Being that my company is a Microsoft Partner, yesturday we got a couple CDs of the Full Version of Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit and Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit.
Today i upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 ultimate because my desktop is 64 bit.
So far so good. I like how it looks, i like how it performs. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

So for the 64 bit users like myself is there going to be a 64 bit version put out? One could not do 64 vista to 32 7?

Re: windows 7

I've been running it for many months (even the betas were excellent). I have 64bit on my main workstation and 32 bit on a Lenovo netbook (run Evoscan, ScanXL, and car stuff on it for the most part). It is unquestionably an improvement over Vista.

I still have Vista on my home theater PC because I've had some weird issues with content protection in the media center part of Win7.

I've used it for many months, started at the first beta, and it definitely is better than Vista.

Re: windows 7

I'm very excited to get my free Windows 7 upgrade for my laptop! I have hated Vista since the day it came out. I personally will be running 32-bit 7 on my 64-bit machine.

Re: windows 7

32 bit versions will still have the 4gb limit on ram. I have 8gb on my desktop so i wanna stick with the 64 bit version. I just need to download the 64 bit version from our microsoft action pak account.
Ill use 32bit 7 on my laptop, 64 bit 7 on my desktop and Windows Home Server on my home theater box to serve media to the PS3.

64 or 32?

I had issues with RC1 64, but 32 has been great.

Re: windows 7

I downloaded/installed it as soon as the RTM version came out. Fresh 64bit install over a Vista64 install.

The first thing that I noticed after playing around with it is that my laptop idles about 10 degrees celcius cooler with Windows 7. The kernel is much more efficient.

Some of the features I don't know how I lived without. Shaking a window minimizes all other windows, dragging a window to the left/right of the screen will cause it to take up half the screen, which has many awesome uses, and bringing a window to the top auto maximizes it.

Mine has been pretty much dead stable, although every once in a while when I unplug my laptop, I get a hard lockup, which sucks, but it doesn't seem common. It's probably just a driver issue.

Oh, and if you have a .edu E-Mail, you can get 7 Home Premium for 30 dollars!

Re: windows 7

64-bit's been out just as long as 32-bit has...

I don't know when I'll make the jump on my desktop, but I need to get around to installing the final release on my laptop, which has a beta release on it currently.

Re: windows 7

I tried out the RC at work and really liked it, even more so than Vista. Unfortunately it will be a long time before we stray from XP at work because a lot of our applications do no run on Vista/7. I have an OEM copy of Vista at home so no upgrading for me.
