Ticket On Car I No Longer Own...

Got a notice in the mail that I have to pay a parking ticket on a car I sold back in May. Anyone deal with this at all. I dont care to hear about what I could have done but more what I CAN do. Im pretty sure I filled out the notice of sale thingy but IDK.

I have known this happening to people and it seems that it it your deal to work out with the current owner of the car since the title was obviously never transferred. Hope you can figure it out.

Do you have a bill of sale for it? If so, bring that to your local DMV and they should be able to take care of it.

If you sent that in, then you are fine. What matters is when is the sale of transaction. Also the card has to be sent in within 10 days

mndriveinfo.org

Do you have all the info on the person? usually I keep a copy of info that I have sold a car.

The courts are understandable on these kinds of tickets so dispute the ticket.

Did you have him fill the title piece that you are suppose to mail in to the state. Its on the right lower part of the tuitle. If you filled it out and mailed it in then the state hasn't put in the computer saying that you have sold the car. Best way would to solve this go to the court house and tell them you sold the car.

Re: Ticket On Car I No Longer Own...

I was an r-tard when selling my bike. I forgot to have the buyer fill out the card for me. I did however make him sign the title.

A few months down the road I called the DMV for other reasons and asked if he ever transferred the title. They said no and I told them I hadn't had possession since August. They "flagged" it and told me it was legally out of my name.

No idea if that will help you as far as the ticket, but they will take it out of your name for the future.

I dealt with this, if you contact the jurisdiction on the ticket and explain to them what is going on they will work with you. You will also have to force transfer the title to the buyer so that will require a call to the DMV.

I had this happen to me too back in the day. Don't think I will be transfering titles without a DMV around me anymore.

Re: Ticket On Car I No Longer Own...

I had to do a forced transfer and ended up getting stuck with the ticket anyway. it sucked.
