coolant overflow

ok so i got this new car i picked up yesterday 1994 tsi awd..

i was looking threw the engine bay and i noticed that the coolant overflow tank is just chillin there, the electrical is not hooked up nor is the dump.. the line coming from the t-stat waterneck is connected to the bottle then the dump line is aimed towards the ground.

should i hook it back up to be safe?? where does that dump go to.. the rad??

Re: coolant overflow

The electrical should be hooked up unless they unplugged it because the sensor was shot or something. The t stat hoze should be hooked up to the overflow and then the dump should face the ground. It holds your excess antifreeze when the engine gets warmer since the fluids expand.

Re: coolant overflow

meh seems like the electronics in these cars suck... i mean, i never got an oil light when my car seized.. you can even tell by the gas light

im going to hook it up the way it was, and try to hide it since it was logged in the IC piping and an engine mount lol

Re: coolant overflow

There is an oil pressure gauge there. Now you know to check it.

Most cars coolant dump tube do face the ground. It would be stupid if it faced the sky. Did you even buy a service manual yet? Not to be an ass but please step away from the car. It seems like you are still confused about working any kind of car not just DSM's. Please if you blow this one up don't go around like most Honda owners saying that these car sucks. FYI you should always be checking your oil each time you fill up on gas.
