F22 Head rebuild/build

i have a friend with an F22 that would like his head rebuilt, he is shooting for about 300hp on pump gas. the motor might see 20-25psi one day/eventually.
so my guess is F22 head build, upgraded springs, retainers. And then whatever other suggestions you have on other parts/stuff.
He would like to keep the cost on the low side if possible.
Thx
Aaron

Re: F22 Head rebuild/build

Which F22 is it? I assume it is one of the common US SOHC versions? Is it VTEC or not?

300HP is a lot for one of those motors, they have displacement, but usually don't make good power past 6000RPMs. He would probably have to build the bottom end to push enough boost to get anywhere close to 300hp. The stock pistons are low compression, but they are not designed to handle boost and it is an open deck block.

Re: F22 Head rebuild/build

sorry, i didn't know about diff. versions. It is US SOHC, from a '92 accord 5spd. He is gonna have the bottom end built too. so you are saying that too reach 300 he would likely have to have the head built pretty good, he was thinking that he could go with just a mild build on the head. Could you shoot me a price on something like that and i will send him to see you/call you.
thx

Re: F22 Head rebuild/build

It might be cheaper to go with a H22 for horsepower gain.

Re: F22 Head rebuild/build

no its not your old car, mr. swift, but skinny (owner of this accord) is a honda nut and says he knows the owner of your old car. i think that the guy was trying to sell it a couple of months ago. Yeah i thought that it would be cheaper/easier to go with a H22/23 as well, but he wants to go with the F block.
