Nasa

What direction do you all feel the NASA program needs to head in? For the billions and billions of dollars they spend, one would sure as hell think that they can figure out this foam issue, especially after the Columbia disaster:

Re: Nasa

You'd think that with all the technology Nasa has, they'd be able to think of something a little better than foam to insulate their boosters...

I think they should go back to investing billions in pens that write upside down.

Re: Nasa

Jesus, I wouldnt trust them. I think they should just repair the fuckin foam, I think a delayed launch is worth the lessened risk on their lives.

I think they should invest billions of dollars in me .

Re: Nasa

NASA stated last week that the astronauts have a 1 in 100 chance of dying on a flight to and from space.

Aside from that, a 5 inch long crack was found in the foam near the top of the external fuel tank on the side facing the shuttle. They've already inspected it again today after filling the tank with liquid oxygen and there is no visible ice forming there.

Re: Nasa

Yea, it's good that everything went well for em. But I think if I had the final decision I wouldn't have went ahead with the launch with a crack where the bracket for the fuel line is. Just think, if hot gasses and shit got into that on the way up...

BOOM!!!!

Re: Nasa

This quote sums it up;

Rockhound: You know we're sitting on four million pounds of fuel, one nuclear weapon and a thing that has 270,000 moving parts built by the lowest bidder. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?

There probably is a better foam out there, it just cost 2 cents more.

Maybe they should call Tempurpedic and get the patent back for their NASA designed viscoelastic memory cells so the shit will remember to stay stuck to the tank.

Re: Nasa

You have a good point there. Did you know that the 2 side white fuel tanks on the side of the ship are made in Minnesota?
