Cracked Transmission

I bought a new Transmission because my 5th gear went out and when I unwrapped it from the packaging I noticed that on the top left bolt hole it was cracked and when I touched it a little chunk fell off... I called DHL shipping and they said it will take 30 days to resolve the issue... My car has already been down 2 weeks and my parents/girlfriend are tired of hauling me around so I am wondering if its still possible to bolt the tranny up without that 1 bolt?

I would post a pic but I cannot find the cord for my digital camera but I will try to find it ASAP .. Also would it be possible to weld or use something to stick that piece on their??

Re: Cracked Transmission

As long as there isnt a hole where fluids would come out I would think that it would be fine with a decient washer to back it up.. Can't really say though without a picture. Good luck

Re: Cracked Transmission

How much of it broke off? I have a TIG and I could probably weld it up for you. We don't have many bolts that attach the tranny, so I would be pretty concerned if it is broke bad enough that the bolt won't work properly.
