Met up with these dudes, along with Shawn/Doughtcom, last Saturday near Dallas, TX.
At an auto-x event:
Supposedly this is the lightest Evo 8/9 in the world. Fully prepped for auto-x with a completely gutted and stripped interior, no headlights, and plexi windows. It has a 5 lb hood and trunk lid, AMS Wilwood lightweight brakes, FP HTA Green (prototype) turbo, FP4R cams, Cobb Accessport, and a short exhaust that exits in front of the front passenger tire.
At Bonedaddy's for dinner:
The 1986 Dodge Omni GLH-Turbo we drove back from Texas:
Shawn and I flew out of MSP at 6am to arrive at DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) at 8:30am Friday morning. We partied it up hardcore all day Friday and Saturday with practically no sleep but plenty of 5 Hour Energy drinks + an abundance of strippers to keep us awake. We left Dallas at 1am Sunday morning in the Omni, slept for 1 1/2 hours in some Oklahoma church parking lot at 6am, and arrived back here before 6pm Sunday evening. The trip was insane fun; probably the best adventure I've ever had during a single weekend! We took back country roads instead of 35 until Kansas City (about the half-way point) at which point we jumped on 35 for the rest of the trip. The Omni ran perfectly with the exception no rear taillights due to some blown fuses for which we got pulled over in downtown Dallas for (no ticket, easy fix, really nice cops) and a faulty speedometer. Shawn bought this car last year sometime and we went down to get it since he moved back up here a few months ago. We met some pretty awesome people while down there. Everyone is incredibly friendly; southern hospitality is legit.
