Weird boosting problems

So I hadn't had this problem before, before I threw a new intake on the car. It's pulls nice, boosts nice through 2nd. When I get on it in 3rd, the boost comes on, and the revs go up without it pulling. Clutch slip? Like I said this all happened after I put an air filter on.

Re: Weird boosting problems

It's the clutch. The intake was probly a coincidence.. Does it do it in 4th gear also?

Re: Weird boosting problems

I'm not positive, didn't get on it too hard, now I'm on a road trip..lol. So I'll check it again when I'm home. Almost positive it's the clutch though.

Re: Weird boosting problems

Do a pull in 5th. If it slips, it's done.

Start from a dead stop in 3rd, if it doesn't hook up, it's done.

Re: Weird boosting problems

Thanks guys. Another question (may sound dumb) but my 16g didn't have a intake on it before, now it pulls 10 times harder. So does an intake explain my sudden boost in power? Seems dumb to ask, but it never pulled that hard before.

Re: Weird boosting problems

Less turbulence = better and smoother airflow. I wouldn't be surprised, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it fixed something that was causing you to lose power.

Also, when do I get my boost leak tester back? I kinda need it.

Re: Weird boosting problems

If you are running a good amount of boost on the turbo, then the stock intake would become more of a restriction. So that could have been your case.

Re: Weird boosting problems

Sidenote-got on it a bit and didn't feel the clutch slip. Was driving it all night actually without a problem.

Re: Weird boosting problems

If you think your clutch is slipping, make sure you check your clutch adjustement before you condem your clutch. If it slave cylinder has pressure on the fork your pressure plate may not be clamping your friction plate fully.
