Happy Holidays!

Christmas is comin' quick, and i'm lookin' for a FMIC KIT. I'm a little scared on the knock off ebay kits, with all these companys i've never heard of??? I like the kits with the upper IC pipe that is bolted to the actual throttle body. (picture of a knock off ebay kit and bov) IF anyone can chime in and give me a good lead to where a decent intercooler+pipe setup would be very appreciated, i'm very excited to start a build. I'm pretty good with doing my own thang, but once in a while i like to hear opinions.

I've installed a 3inch ic KIT that i ordered from MAP on the other talon, which i had to do a little cutting and there was fitment problems, (damn is it hard to get a 3''inch pipe to fit into the hotside, i dont want to cut the bumper support/ core support for the FMIC piping??) plus the small 'j' pipe with reducers? i want maximum air flow!? realistically a Big 16g would be the turbo i'd be using for this kit, but maybe a 60 trim? still unsure about which turbo..., Is there any 3'' kits that cutting and fitment wouldn't be an issue?? Does someone do complete custom setups where we could do our own lay-out? pictures would be nice

3" piping is way overkill for a big 16g, or even a 60 trim. 2.5" is what most people (myself included) run, and it's plenty for what most people can throw at the car. I have an ebay fmic on my car with custom piping and it works just fine.

I could see maybe a 3" cold-side which is still over kill for a 16g, but a 3" hot-side is way over kill for a 16g. If you want a FMIC you are going to have to cut and trim on a lot of the FMIC kits available, that's just life.

If it were me I wouldn't buy a FMIC off of eBay even though lots have got away with it. But that is just me, quality proven parts only, that way you are only buying something once instead of twice.

However, if I were to consider an eBay special it probably would be a CXRacing FMIC.

As everyone else has said 3" is way overkill and just not needed. IMO stay away from eBay cores. I know ETS makes some nice DSM stuff so you could check them out.

I was also going to recommend ETS but he seemed to be on a budget and those kits / cores ain't cheap so I didn't, but they are well worth it.

Not to thread jack or anything but what about 2.25" piping on a 50 trim? maybe a tad small? really worth the upgrade?

Obviously at 30 psi 2.5" would probably be more ideal, but 2.25" would be just fine on your 50 trim.

Thanks for the input everyone. ill base my decision on what was said.

I do have 3'' IC piping on a big 16g with a buschur racing core on the other talon and LOVE it. (then again i didnt care about hacking the core support/car itself..

Ill keep it simple with 2.5 and keeping a clean Talon
