Question Fuel Cut?

1992 Tsi AWD 5 spd
255 walbro
afpr
650cc
safc(5 knob)
maft v1.6
3" gm maf
20G w/ external hks wg
greddy type rs bov
correct timing
new wires
new plugs
good coil
good transitor
new ecu caps/good ecu

The Problem: At any boost level above 10 psi in any gear, at about 4200-4500rpm it knocks and at about 5000rpm the whole car jerks and like stops pulling. Is this fuel cut? I have heard that the MAF translators have a fuel cut switch. I honestly know NOTHING about the MAF translator, as I bought the car and it was already set for the 650ccs. I thought it was an ignition problem, so I checked the coil, tried my friends brand new power transistor, and even replaced the ecu caps. And it was none of those. Thanks!!

Also... my fuel pressure is set at ~28psi. I'm guessing its because I have a 255 L/hr High Pressure fuel pump, and the base fuel pressure was turned down to prevent FPR overrun at idle.

Re: Fuel Cut?

Fuel cut feel like you hit a brick wall for about 1 second. If the jerking doesnt make you eat the steering wheel then its not fuel cut.

How are you monitoring knock? If its knocking add fuel, adding fuel causes fuel cut but I never had a problem at 15 psi with my old 20G and MAFT/afc1. Find the instructions for the MAFT and then go over all the dip switched inside the box and see what they are set too. I would make sure they are only adsjusted for 650s and then 0 out all the other knobs and just use your AFC to tune.

Re: Fuel Cut?

Monitoring knock with m100 and DSMPocketlogger software. No matter how much fuel I add it knocks. And at 5krpm, it feels like someone slams on the brakes HARD for a second. I thought on the MAFt where was only 4 dipswitches, and two knobs? So where is this "fuel cut" dipswtich? I'm look up info on my MAFT. Thanks.

Re: Fuel Cut?

I can't find any info for my MAFT online! I tried ramchargers.com but that site doesnt seem to work, I googled a bunch of stuff and I've come up with dead ends. Any one know where I can find some instructions for MAFT v1.6 or 1.xx?
