Re: Boost leak test and...

That means you have a huge leak that the compressor couldn't overcome. Or your guage is broke.

Re: Boost leak test and...

His guage goes to 15psi when he drives it but doesn't do anything with the tester on it. I used the air compressor and couldn't even build 1 pound. It was putting out a lot of air. I couldn't hear a leak or anything after pulling the air chuck off. Could the turbo be his leak? I had this problem a long time ago with a car I parted out and I never figured it out on that either. I was wondering how he could build 15psi when the compressor couldn't even build one.

Something is wrong with the tester.

If this car still has a stock intercooler check the inlet and outlet of the intercooler. They get little holes in there and leak like hell.

Re: Boost leak test and...

It has a stock intercooler. I'll check those today. Wouldn't that make a sound though?
Also super4x4duty, It was stated in RK's bitch thread that the technical forums should be taken seriously as most the others you can kid around with; so I would appreciate only serious answers when it refers to a problem with my car. Thanks

Re: Boost leak test and...

Next time the tester is on, try removing a vac source that should be seeing pressure. That will tell you if the system is seeing any pressure. You could always bypass the turbo all together and run the test through an IC pipe, but thet might be difficult with the stock mesh hose.

Re: Boost leak test and...

I am sure the intercooler isn't the reason. I would have heard a leak there and it most likely would have needed to build boost to get there.

A lot of times the leak is so big that you don't hear anything. It was like that when Shane blew his end tank apart.

No look for leaks! Take a bottle of sopy water and spray it all over anywhere there is an intersection while someone else pressurizes the system. Its a pretty simple process I dont know how anyone is supposed to guide you through it any easier unless they do it for you...

Re: Boost leak test and...

OK the boost leak tester isnt to test your gauge just for listening to find your leak a boost leak tester dosent build pressure in the vacuum lines just the turbo piping thats why it dosent work

WTF are you talking about? It will build pressure in your system and it will show on your boost gauge. Unless the leak is really big then it might show nothing at all on the gauge.

Try putting the tester on your t-body elbow. Then you can narrow down the spots at where it could be leaking from.

You are a fucking dumb ass. Could you have a leak at your t-body? Could you have a leak at your intake mainfold? Yes and yes. So putting it on the t-body will either eliminate those spots or show you have a leak at one of those spots. If there are no leaks there then it tells you that it's between the turbo and the t-body.

Don't say something unless you know what the hell you are talking about. Are the vacuum lines connected to the intake manifold? Yes. Does it pressurize the intake manifold? Yes. Therefore it has to put pressure to the vacuum lines also.
