Thoughts on the new Michelin tires??

So I was reading an email that I got earlier from my uncle about the new Michelin tires... Thought they were pretty interesting and figured I would share.

Thoughts or comments?

I think they are pretty cool!

I think they look terrible. They should try to come up with some flexible sidewall so they don't look like you're rolling on 10 speed wheels.

Re: Thoughts on the new Michelin tires??

It looks like there is enough "side wall flex" but its the hole tread width that would move up and down without deforming. No more flat tires and the tire should run cooler, the big thing would be changing the stiffness of the tire itself does not look possible, like how we change tire pressure now.

That's probably just the "skeleton" of their newest run flats.

ROFL!!!

Yeah, I think that looks pretty gay. I will stick to my regular tires until I know a few people who have put those through a few thousand miles and a few "tests" before I get a set.

Yep, had at least 2 threads on it on here already. They are the Michelin Tweel (sp).

Re: Thoughts on the new Michelin tires??

The closest to technology they've had on newer tires are those PAX tires. I can say they are a BITCH to mount and unmount with the honeycomb ring on the inside of them. They are also over 660 a tire, so it's not quite that cost effective. That's one thing I don't miss about the job at honda. Doing those SUCKED ASS!

From what I understand they wouldn't be driven on the street like that. They are only showing you the inside of the tire there for demonstration purposes.

Google "tweel" and "active wheel." I have this site bookmarked as a good point of information too but am not currently seeing anything on it:

First off i doubt they would keep the no sidewalls, they are basically showing the design concept. think about it people do you know how much dirt woudl get in that shit. Think before posting thank you. LOL

I hope you buy a set of these and drive to MN, so I can stick a my gum in your tire. Then you'll need to have them rebalanced. Flexible sidewalls FTW!!

Some would say to you, look in the mirror while saying this!

I did not know they have been out for a long time. I just got the email the day I posted it. All the email said is Michelin designed a tire without sidewalls and did not require air pressure. Thought it was interesting so I shared.

Here is an article I found that uses them in wheel chairs, Bobcats and so forth... All without sidewalls to "provide better ride comfort, weight carring capacity, and the ability to "envelope" road hazards. It was posted in Jan of 05, so 2 years old is correct.

Oh well, I thought they were interesting... Sue me if you dont like it.
