Wont rev past 3k
Hey, so i just got matts 91 awd tsi, 5 speed, and got the tranny fixed on it. tried driving the car home, but it would get to 2k, start sputtering, and wouldnt get past 3. I could even downshift and the car would go to 4k, but there would be no throttle response at all. Occasionally i will start the car up and it will rev all the way(still sputtering a little), but it doesnt last long. Thought it was the TPS, but i took that off today and it tested fine. Could it possibly be the fuel pump? Im not hearing it whine when i turn the key. Mabey something was not hooked back up when the tranny was fixed? Any opinions would help greatly.

Re: Wont rev past 3k
First question I have is if you are getting any kind of check engine light?
I think if I were you, right now I'd just go over the car completely after hearing about this, and the issues you stated in the other thread. I wouldn't trust that anything is right on that car.
I'd start with the timing belt, make sure all the marks line up. Then I'd check ignition timing. Then a boost leak test. Then put in new plugs, wires, air filter, and change the oil. Then just go over the entire engine bay and just try to see if anything doesn't look right.

Re: Wont rev past 3k
Well if the check engine light is on, that's a good place to start.

Re: Wont rev past 3k
If you want help, you need to be a little more descriptive. There are a lot of plugs in the engine bay. The MAS is located right before your Air Filter. There should be a cable plugged into it.
Go spend some time studying up on Vfaq, there's a lot of good info over there.

Re: Wont rev past 3k
Does your car have its emissions?
These are the only plugs I can think of right now that are 2 wired in the engine bay:
Backup Light Sensor
Coolant Temp Sensor
Injectors
All Emission Soleniods
Knock Sensor
I believe that is it

Re: Wont rev past 3k
Post up the color wires. That would help for people who have wiring diagrams.

Re: Wont rev past 3k
The smaller one is for the stock BCS. The big plug by the brake booster is for your emissions stuff which looks removed. Do you have the ISC removed cause thats what the other plug looks like?
