Red won't be any worse than the blue At least it'll match the car...

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
I think that red looks great, and I wanted to do it, but
a) I couldn't find red paint fabric paint at any of the local auto stores.
b) I was worried the red would combine with the blue into a crappy shade of who-knows-what.
So I stuck with the safe bet and used Duplicolor fabric flat black. It matches the rest of the seat very well, even to the point of looking stock. I would agree with you that it does look a bit plain.
Just a few tips if you try this:
As with any painting project, take your time taping off the edges. Focus on the edges when painting. Paint the edges first and use your free hand to pull the edges as flat as possible. I had to retape and repaint around the edges of my first seat because the paint didn't make it all the way down to the bottom of the seams.
Once the seats are painted and dry, use a brillow pad, stiff brush, or something else to scrub/massage the painted areas. This breaks up the top layer of paint and softens the material. It also helps to speed up getting rid of the paint smell. I also rubbed the seat with a dryer sheet and allowed the seats to air out overnight to help get rid of the smell.
I'll try to get some pics up tonight of my seats. I'm interested to see red seats...

I say go black, screw the red. But it might be worth a try, idk. I just think it'll end up looking cheap rather than clean.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
If you do paint you seats start with the passanger side first. So when you do the drives seat you will get it perfect. Just something that I have learned from working on cars

Nice car. I'm guessing you bought this car from a kid named Jeremy Simonson. He seemed like he took really good care of it.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
So I hope I'm not intruding on your thread, but here are some crappy pics I took of the seats. The lighting is really hard to get right with these seats, plus I noticed I have scratches on my damn camera lense. On to the pics...
If you're ever in the Mankato area and I'm not busy, I'd be more than happy to help you out. I'm willing to bet you could tackle this on your own though.

Nice car! I say keep the CF truck lid, and go with a Rexpeed lip like Rosey has on his car.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
Definitely not intruding. The all black does look really sick.... I know I can do it on my own i'm just not sure when I can tackle this project.
1st things 1st...
I NEED WINTER TIRES
I'm guessing i'm going to have to buy new.
When should I put them on? I don't want to waste them when it's nice out.
And aside from the obvious answer, Blizzaks, What should I consider for tires?
Should I go with the oem size or other?

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
OEM size is fine. I'd recommend any of the following:
Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi (best snow tire ever, hella expensive)
General Altimax Arctic (Nokian Hakka rip, second best snow tire ever, very affordable)
Hankook W409 (Nokian Hakka rip, not as good as the General and louder on dry pavement...still great tire)
The above are all kinda 'marshmallow' snow tires...epic in the snow and ice but on dry pavement they are a bit soft and marshmallowey.
'Performance' snow tires...made for sports cars, better in the dry:
Hankook w300 (great snow tire fo the $$, lots of people I know have run them and love them)
Hankook w310 (these are new version of the w300 I think?)
Dunlop Wintersport M3 (longtime great snow tire with tons of great reviews)
Dunlop Wintersport 3D (new version of the M3)
I will recommend the Generals to everyone; I had them on my evo and they are on my wife's GLI. They turn even a FWD wheelspinner into a fukin snow cat. That being said, I can't get them in 18" for my X, so I'm probably getting either the M3's or the W310's. If you can, get them mounted on a second set of stock rims and simply swap them on right when it snows the first time, that's what I always do. Otherwise, order them, have them waiting, and once the temp is consistently below 35°, have them swapped on.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
Not gonna lie, I kinda like the red seats, but I would be concerned about the red paint on blue seats turning some total poop color. yikes.
Scheides pretty much said all there is to say about winter tires. Bizzak's are good too obviously, I have never had a set but a handful of friends have had them and I've never heard a complaint. I wish firestone had made winterforces in 17's when I had my Evo, I loved them on the dyke mobile. Pretty sure they still only make them in smaller fatter sizes like a 215-65/16 for example, not a low-pro like a stock 235/45-17 Evo tire.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
I'm running the Nitto SN2s, and they're a marshmallow tire as well. Very very awesome in the snow, I was doing 60mph while pushing snow with the front bumper a couple times last year with near perfect stability. They do suck in the dry, and in the wet I can get the car to crab walk in second just rolling onto it. A nice tire, but once they're gone I'll probably go with something more "sporty."

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
I like both winterforces and blizzaks. Good luck.
On the seats i think the red insert looks pretty neat and as long as it isn't bright I think it will look nice

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
Definitely black on the seats, and a wing. I wish I would've dyed my seats black, even though I didn't own it that long. All black looks great without spending dough on the IX seats.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO
I ordered winter tires today... The Toyota dealer in Winona was running the "Buy 3 get the 4th for $1" kind of deal. I'm also picking up a set of 8 wheels on Thursday. .... I want to powder coat them.
