I did it when i had the motor out.
I lined up the crank at 10 BTDC, lined up the cam gears and oil pump gear. I pushed the tensioner in with a vise and dropped an allen wrench in the hole. Then installed that and pulled the pin after i had the belt on. it was dead on 10 btdc when i installed the motor and made sure it was. Im thinking it was either a faulty tensioner that just gave out or it was a bad belt. I am just hoping i didnt bend any valves.
What is the easiest way of checking the valves without pulling off the head?
