Jakey/notnormal, I totally agree with you guys but there are some HR rules that I cannot break. I can bend them a bit if the resume looks like there's some good stuff, but there's a limit. LOL!
Some of the stuff we do is state of teh art designing/machining/assembly, so the HR people like to think they can set high standards. Personally, I'd just interview a guy myself, then have my team interview him. If we all sign off, he's in. I cant pull it off all the time though.
