I went home for lunch and tore apart my Hallman. Impressively, it wasn't really dirty. Nothing 1 end of q-tip couldn't take care of. What was more interesting was the spring. On the boostcontroller website the light spring has like 11 loops and the heavy spring has 8 loops(heavier wire). It looks at though I have the lighter spring. I wonder how much max boost the light spring is meant for. Perhaps, i'm onto something and just need to buy the heavy spring.
