The belt should stay centered just fine. How much is "a little?"
A loose tensioner or idler pully can cause the t-belt to walk. Also a bent cam gear can cause the t-belt to walk,but it won't just slip off on its own if that is what your worried about (or shouldn't unless something is broken).
