Wow! I wonder how much that thing weighs!? As far as the bell housing, it said he's using a heavily modified Powerglide with a custom adapter and flex plate. And in the vid, the bellhousing didn't look any bigger than a normal one. And yeah, there's much better ways to make those kind of power numbers, but I think this is one of those "Well, why not?" situations.
