I would imagine the flames would engulf the world. Your thinking on small scale terms. This is a very very large scale event. Larger than most can really think of in any sort of terms. I mean one volcano can release a pyroclastic cloud that travels for miles. Now times that volcano by like 10000 and you already covered the earth. Personally I think it would almost rip the earth apart. That big of a shock wave rolling thru the mantel would have to bust the crust up other places too, and more than likely knock us out of our current orbit.

The earthquake that caused the big tsunami a while ago was said to have released so much energy that it affected the Earth's rotation, but it was something like only a thousandth of a second or so.
