For comparison, I paid $1900 for my last DSM ('92 Laser AWD) and immediately after buying it I put ~$500 into the car as preventative maintenance. These cars are nearing 20 years old and many of them have been modded and beaten for at least half their lives so maintenance and repairs are to be expected.
