Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
lol want more than 420@db. I love the way you guys throw away these awesome numbers, esp for a street car like they are nothing.
FP's customer service has been getting a lot of neg. rep as of late it seems.

I think it's from hanging out on the national forums too much. ETS, AMS, Buschur, etc. get on there with their 700hp+ cars and you forget how rare they are since they are always in your face. They are also Dynojet numbers in most cases.
Our last dyno day we had like one car over 400whp@DB. It's obviously a lot of power.

I know it'd cost more money to do the turbo twice but if you want my stocker, it's just chillin' in my closet. You might want to drive casual for a while to break in the motor anyway.

I was actually debating on asking you about this.
It would be nice for a stock turbo X record anyway
Then throw the black on in September or something.
FP isn't too bad, i think they are just like everyone else in the world. Parts are a huge issue right now and they are waiting on their vendors. My field is having lots of issues with parts delays. People are operating on bare bones crews and the orders are going up so things are going slow. My FPred took under a week to get it from FP to me and they ported it.
I know 420whp is quite a bit of power and i loved my car at that level, it's just that it still didn't make me feel like the car was that fast. I think it was from DD'ing the car 60 miles a day though, because I jumped in my dad's c6 and it seemed a lot slower than i remember it being. Also the X seems to deliver power a lot smoother than the 8/9's so I think they feel a little slower than they really all, plus all the added weight.

Just read an article in today's USA Today business section...the whole shipping industry is 1-3 weeks backed up, world-wide. They mentioned that clothing had to be sold at discounts because they missed the start of Summer. There are also only a couple companies in the world that make shipping containers and they all shut down cold fairly early in the downturn and now there are supply problems.
Interesting stuff but I'm a bit of a econ nerd.

I wouldn't trust 'two weeks' from FP ever. They make awesome products, but there's a reason I bought a BBK (well, several).

400whp on a street car is perfect imho, more than that and you're starting to just get silly, start chasing numbers, and spend a lot of money. I wish you would have just kept the red until you had the black in-hand (or in transit), making a ton of changes all at once is never a good idea (IMHO).

I honestly had no intentions of really changing my car for a while, i was happy with it, it still wasn't perfect, but i was happy. The motor blew up so I didn't have a choice but to upgrade it some since I had to spend a lot of money on labor anyway.
The only reason I changed out from the red to the black was because i had to pay for the turbo swap in a sense already, so I was trying to piggy back costs. Personally i think I could've hit 475whp with my build on the red with the head work, new cams, new bov etc. But I knew it would only be a matter of time before i wanted a bit more. This build will put me as far as I go though. I think
