Yes. My X filter was slipping off until I sanded it a bit to rough it up, my wife's WRX filter was slipping off her SPT intake pipe, and my dad's GTO filter was slipping off his K&N intake pipe. The WRX and GTO filters seemed very secure and tight during installation, but after a few thousand miles they slipped off from the vibrations. I also found that over-tightening the filter clamp to prevent slippage was causing them to be squeezed off. These are all things that a small bead could have prevented.

To me this seems like one of those "why not?" type of things. Best case is saves a filter from slipping off; worst case it's still an extra attention to detail you have over the competition.
