Shipping a Car From Out of State

Posted an ad and the guy gave me a quote and I paid him when he dropped the car off. it was $500 from South Carolina to here. I paid the guy before the shipper picked it up.

How did you pay for the car? My biggest concern is getting scammed out of thousands of dollars from the seller.
