Re: 2006 Corvette
Andrew, I know you said when I was talking to you to look for a base c6 with the LS7...I haven't found crap online.
Any places to search would be helpful, I am getting to the point of possibly wanted a big beefy v8!

Re: 2006 Corvette
There are some crazy deals on Z06's right now:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...n-33500-a.html (this one lists as sold but the buyer just put it back up for sale today, his wife apparently did not approve lol)
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...20735878&Log=0
Most of the stroker motors in the base model won't be a real LS7, it'll be a bored/stroked LS3 or something, so search for "stroker", 427, 402, etc. for the bigger cube motors. Those usually go for higher 20's though, and if you can pick up a Z06 for a few grand more it would be a better route to go.

Re: 2006 Corvette
Holy shit yeah it is. Murlo if you can do it, I wouldn't waste any time you could be back at your dyno numbers in no time and would have to do nothing but drive it!
Not to be too OT, but hanson when you bringing that thing back up here?
Can it dig?

I was going to drive it up next week for work again, but my project was cancelled and I won't be driving up again until July at the earliest. I'll be up there for a week in late May but flying instead.

Haha that pic is awesome. I wish my car looked like that Z06, it has the wide body fenders and the ZR1 front lip and side skirts which look awesome. Too bad the conversion costs over $5k plus paint.

What's a tuned zo6 with bolt ons put down andrew?
Is that basically what you had when you were last on DB's dyno?

Re: 2006 Corvette
I have a 427 LS3 which is same displacement as an LS7 but generally makes more torque and less top end. With headers and intake stuff plus tune you can get high 400s on pump gas, with a decent cam and heads it's pretty easy to hit 550 with them and still be streetable. With a huge cam people are hitting 600rwhp, but it sucks to drive on the street at low throttle. Just ask Goodhart or Tachyon about my car's manners in Ashland, not really fun (and my cam isn't that big).
Edit: That z06 has a nice intake already, OBX headers will run $700 (others are over 1500). Cam and heads will probably run $4k or so installed. But for $4k you can buy a supercharger... hahaha. I was actually going to buy some nice heads but for $3k installed, it was only an extra grand to buy the supercharger and I could install that myself. I was too afraid to install heads myself because I know nothing about pushrods. I probably would have been in the 560-570 range with E85 and CNC'd heads.

Can't be much worse than my car with big ass cams, lol. 550 and streetable on pump...I like the sound of that!
I'd just boost it on E85 if I needed more, thats a great power level in my opinion, between 500-600.

Re: 2006 Corvette
It was jerky at low RPM, but I didn't find it to be terrible.... I've grown use to such things in performance vehicles.
It might be considered harsh if you use it as cheif transportation rather than the occasional toy, but I know few people who would buy a vette for that purpose.
FFS though, you could make over 600 RWHP... reliably; no forced induction or winding it out to 10k RPM... Plus this is fed though a gearbox that would be at home in a nuclear submarine...
It does take a bit more skill to drive quickly though than your X. I guess that would be one consideration.

Re: 2006 Corvette
Exactly, 600hp, don't have to worry about lifting the head, constant fear of gearbox issues, boost leaks, etc.

Re: 2006 Corvette
Got my Beltronics STI-R+ and ZR4 shifters today in the mail. I plan to install it this weekend and will post more pics then.
GPS receiver: going under dash cover next to the navigation receiver
Control box: going behind passenger footwell where a big fuse block is
Radar receiver: going inside front grille
Two front laser jammers: inside front grille
Rear laser jammer: above rear license plate
Speaker is going inside dash somewhere
Still have to determine best place to mount the little LCD display and control module.
