I did. I adjusted it to the point that the cylinder was blocking the path to the reservoir and then backed it off slightly

Bleed it, air in the system can cause engagement/disengagement issue, because its not releasing fully.

Have someone step on the clutch and watch to see if the slave rod and fork moves enough
