You shim for the cams when using regrinds. If your cams were installed correctly you'll find shims (washers) under the lifters.

280s on stock springs wouldn't last long. Even with the set of bc280s I had originally bought for my car. The Fps I had were borderline to coil bind.

If you have everything apart you can run a stock spring to a head shop and they can check to se if your cams will cause issues with stock springs. Then at least you know what you'll need to get.

But if on a budget I'd still do evo springs and retainers.
